Joey Logano

The reigning Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion, Joey Logano, has been on the path to the pinnacle of the sport since his younger years. From the ranks of quarter midgets to legend cars and eventually stock cars, the Connecticut native has set ablaze each discipline of racing he has encountered. Starting his career in 1996 as a six-year old newbie to quarter midgets, Logano quickly found his way to the front and began winning regional and then national championships. When his family relocated to Georgia, the 10-year old Logano switched to legend cars and shortly after, pavement late models. As just a young teenager, he was winning championships, dominating race and setting new records while putting his name on the map. Breaking into the stock car ranks, Logano continued his upward trend as a blossoming teenager, becoming the youngest winner in both the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Cup Series, records which still stand to this day. In the Cup Series, he was 19 years, 35 days old when he won his first-career Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2009. In his first of four seasons driving for Joe Gibbs Racing in the famed No. 20, Logano won his first race and took Rookie of the Year honors. In 2013, a career-altering change come forward, as Logano joined the Team Penske organization to drive the Shell, Penzoil No. 22. The wins were coming more often, the top fives were abundant, the consistency was undeniable, and the team was gelling, Logano had found his home. His consistency and rise as a challenger placed Logano in the top tier of the NASCAR Cup Series. He had formed into the championship contender year-in and year-out that most predicted he would become from his younger years. He became a Daytona 500 champion in 2015, he competed in the Final Four championship battle at Homestead-Miami Speedway on two occasions, falling just short of a title. In 2018, everything came full circle. Logano snagged three victories, 13 top-five finishes and 26 top-ten finishes en route to claiming his first-career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship. A career-defining season which saw the 28-year old climb to the pinnacle of the sport.
