CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Dale Blaney won for the third time in six races during the 33rd annual Ohio Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket and sanctioned by the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions Wednesday night at Atomic Speedway.
Before one lap could be completed in the 30-lap UNOH A-main Cody Darrah and another car made contact, sparking a wild scramble that saw Danny Holtgraver and Dave Blaney make contact. Blaney flipped onto his side.
Darrah’s crew made repairs and he came from the rear of the pack to 19th with a less-than perfect handling machine.
Once the race restarted Blaney blasted into the lead with Cole Duncan in tow. Blaney had built a commanding lead, but in traffic from lap 15 on, Duncan whittled away at the lead, coming within .19 seconds of the leader.
Greg Wilson came on late in the race from a 14th place start into third after a race-long battle with D.J. Foos, who finished fourth. Parker Price-Miller was fifth.
If Blaney can win two more features during the final three Speedweek races, he would claim a $25,000 bonus offered by Cometic Gasket to any driver who can win five of the nine features.
Josh Baughman was fast qualifier for the 48-car field.
Seventy-three-year-old Delmas Conley claimed his fourth late model victory of the season at the three-eighths-mile track.
