Sprint car champion Donny Schatz never would consider himself a historian, but the accomplishments he’s earned over the past dozen seasons have etched his name in the history books as one of short-track racing’s best.

Schatz, the driver for Tony Stewart Racing (TSR), continues to build his legacy while competing in the World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series. The WoO, which started in 1978 to organize the most talented sprint car racers, has tested many competitors through the past five decades. Schatz worked tirelessly to reach champion status, earning his stripes as a young rookie and climbing to the top in a sport dominated by iconic figures. The Fargo, North Dakota resident put an exclamation point on a two-year run that included 49 WoO A-Feature victories by earning his sixth series championship in 2014. Schatz, 37, posted a career-best 26 WoO A-Feature victories in 2014, eclipsing his 23 from 2013, and dominated every statistic category in short track racing’s most grueling series. So he again finds himself in the category of “hunted” in his quest to claim a seventh WoO championship. Fierce competitor Schatz is motivated to build on his incredible 2014 campaign by working harder than ever to continue setting the pace in his 19th season with “The Greatest Show on Dirt.”
